Consequence of Sound: Lolla Main Event: Kanye West (8/3)

Are you kidding me? This was the most painful show of the weekend. A horrible, lackluster opening led us to leave and go to Nails. After we realized Trent was composing a movie score during his set, we decided to go back to Kanye in hopes of an Obama sighting. No luck, but instead we got a horrible show that proved Lupe is much more enjoyable then his teacher. Kanye should not have headlined. It was brutal.

Hey to say it my friend, but you're the first person I've heard say anything negative amount the performance. The consensus of media and fans alike was one of critical acclaim.

oh it was awful. I dont really like kanye but i was willing to be open minded and see what all the buzz was about. I was with my friend (who loves kanye) and after a half hour we got so bored we went to nin. He apologized to me on the way over for making me sit through that garbage.

Best show of my life. Probably the most bad ass thing I have ever witnessed. Being in the front helped too im sure.

how about that one idiot obama sighting. yeah i told that to gullible fucking losers like him so i could get some breathing space at NIN

Kanye is all spectacle, light & smog, and not much of a true musician/vocalist. He would be a dud in a day light show. However, he could be a hit on the Kidpalooza stage.

Thought this show was flat with no energy thru the first six songs. I left. Has whoever has written positive things ever seen jay z live? Does. Not. Even. Compare.

Especially when Jay Z toured with a live band (you may know from their day job as "the roots")

It seems like the consensus is either people loved it or hated it. No in between.
