I actually got to know justin a bit when he moved to l.a. and we got along very well. the only thing is that he had a lot of distractions and it was difficult for him to work in a day job knowing his talent, and he gave me a special cd but like an idiot i have it to another friend who fell in love with it. I think he got kind of pissed that I did that :( sorry Justin :( I didn't mean it as insult I loved the music too, Last I knew he had a meeting with the people at Atlantic and I guess I wasn't the best influence because we were attracted to the other (another distraction)...I went to FSU also but had no idea who he was until he moved to los angeles. I was under the impression it was just him for the deal not the whole band. After reading this I am wondering where the heck I was while he was so popular in Tally--maybe Bullwinkle's?! Anyway, I wish them all the best wherever they are. Justin disappeared but damn he be fine...lol

I have been looking for Standstill's music for years. I have about 10 or so songs on my IPod that I had from demo cds Farzad gave me when he was working at Movie Gallery next to my job. I need to know if there is any way at all you can get me this music... It would mean a lot to me. All the songs I do have are stuck on my ipod. I need this. I lost Chris' (from believe in toledo) cell number. He was going to give me all the music he had of them, but no number, and the cd store he worked at went under.. or so I hear. Thank you so much for posting this! My memories with Standstill date back to my middle and high school years when a good friend of mine introduced me to them and gave me a CD. I fell in love, esp. with the song, "The Long Way Home" I can't seem to find that song anywhere online and it's always been a favorite to jam out to in the car. Aww I miss them so much..and of course their music. :)

Yeah I saw these guys years ago, and was pretty shocked to see them in a little one room venue and not on TV because the music was there for real... I got a sample CD with quite a few of these songs on it, thought for sure they were going to make it big. But destiny thought naught... But all in all they are damn good, and I'm glad their music survived somewhere online, and I found it! thanks for posting, everyone enjoy these guys!

What a damn shame, they were a great band. 3 of the members actually started a band in Tallahassee in 2006 called One Small Step for Landmines. Also put on an awesome show.

I suddenly remembered this band tonight while thinking about all the bands the "almost made it" while I was in Tallyho. Fact is, they were burned out before they ever made it out to California.

I remember seeing them at the Beta Bar right before they disappeared to make their big record with Atlantic. They were the headliners, and there must have been a couple hundred of us there to see them specifically. They only played for 15 minutes, and it was a disjointed set that didn't include the crowd fav's you mentioned. It ended with Justin Taylor dropping his pants and then hopping off the stage. The guy standing next to me in the crowd scoffed, "That's it?" And looked at me for an explanation. I shrugged. What was there to say? They'd lost whatever it was that had made their music so powerful only a year before.

Some time later I was at the Beta Bar to see my friend Tori Sparks play a set. When she was done, we were sitting together at one of the tables on the riser at the back of the room, and I saw Justin Taylor come down the other side and head for the bar. It may have only been my cynicism at work, but he seemed to wander around and try to catch people's attention, hoping he'd be recognized. But alas, nobody gave him the time of day-- the same guy who was worshiped in Talley a year ago.

Wow... I find it odd that I came across this post tonight. I used to go to every show that I could back in Tallahassee. Just recently I too found my old stashed away mp3 folder of Standstill songs. In the back of my head, there is always this hope that one day they will resurface with the energy and the sound that I remembered, and not the way their last show had gone.
