I know the old page was long, but I sure didn't mind. Could you please still offer one consolidated festivals/lineups page as before? That could be in addition to the new separate pages per festival, where people can go for more info on each festival.
Thanks for considering, and in any event, please keep up the great festival info!
I'll try to add a full page once everything is fixed in terms of hosting and servers.
Thanks for the comments!
And to all those people out there who are wondering if it is worth a trip out to Vegas... you can BET it is! Here's pics and a blog from Last year's show. I'm the guy dressed as a Beer Keg. And if you plan on coming to the show, costumes are a MUST!!

I liked this site because it was very easy to just stop by for a minute and quickly glance over things and check out the new news. Now with all the weird spacing issues and the font being insanely huge, that's not really possible. I'm hoping that things will get fixed because instead of making things more organized, they now look much less organized.
Thanks for the comments. As another poster mentioned, the problems seem to exist when viewing the site using internet explorer. Other browsers seem to work fine for viewing the site. I've been using Firefox, which can be downloaded for free and only takes a minute or two to set up. Here's a link:

Thanks for reading and hopefully you're able to view the site at its best. The bosses have it looking really sharp.
take care,
matt

the layout for the festival page is better.....i wont say its the best, but better.
Has anyone heard whether or not The Bang Music Festival (which usually took place in Miami Fl) is happening this year?
The website still says it is, but I was wondering if anyone had heard any confirmation.
It was single day festival in 2005, and 2006, and the lineup was pretty big in 06. Daft Punk, Duran Duran, Tiesto, Gnarls Barkley, Modest Mouse, and many others.
It was planned to be turned into a two day festival in 07, and it was announced that Smashing Pumpkins and Kanye would be headlining, but then it was randomly canceled for some reason.
heres the website...
http://bangmusicfestival.com/
Which still says the festival is happening, but It still doesn't look at that convincing to me.
thoughts?
I actually researched into Bang! over the weekend. Haven't found anything, but then again it looks like it will take place sometime in November so we are a long ways away.
* The festival will officially take place July 12 & 13 at the 640-acre Marymoor Park in Redmond, with performances going both day and night
* Bands performing will cover the history of the label’s roster, including two reunion performances. One will be the much-ballyhooed return of Green River. The second, according to this recent news story from the Denver Post, will be the Fluid, Sub Pop’s first non-local signing from way back in 1985.
* There will likely be a Sub Pop comedy night at a yet-to-be-named venue separate from the music festivities.
* There could possibly also be some shows at clubs around Seattle leading up to the festivities, though details on this were very vague.

2008 Paul Green School of Rock Festival Fact Sheet
Overview:
The Paul Green School of Rock-the original performance-based after-school rock music program in the country-will kick off the biggest event of the year with its second annual music festival. The Paul Green School of Rock Music Festival (SORFest), is set for June 27-29 in the city of brotherly love and rock and roll hot spot, Philadelphia, PA.
SORFest features three days of the best rock music including performances by Devo, The Hold Steady, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Dropkick Murphys, and the School of Rock All Stars, among others. It is the latest opportunity for the students of the School of Rock to hone their performance skills and learn from the masters.
"Having our own festival allows us to bring in main stage national acts to inspire our students, get the kids from our schools around the country up on the side stages to play the greatest music ever made and provide slots for original bands comprised of our students and staff, as well as up-and-coming bands we want to support," says Paul Green.
Details:
· The Paul Green School of Rock's second annual Festival will kick off Friday, June 27th through Sunday, June 29th at the Festival Pier at Penn's Landing and the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA
· Paul Green School of Rock bands from 30 schools across the country will perform a variety of rock shows over three days
· Headliners include national touring acts: DEVO, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Drop Kick Murphys and The Hold Steady.
One additional headliner TBA
· 600 School of Rock students will converge from across the country to perform on five side stages and one main stage
· 30,000 spectators are expected in attendance over the course of the weekend
· Tickets for all 3 shows go on sale Saturday, March 22nd at 10am.
· Uwishunu.com will host an exclusive pre-sale beginning Wednesday, March 19th at 10am and running thru Friday, March 21st at 10am. In addition uwishunu will host exclusive announcements, and contests, including a "golden ticket' which enters guests into all of the events
· Pictures, Videos and Audio clips from the 2007 School of Rock Festival can be found at www.schoolofrock.com/festival
Thanks for the info. I'll keep my fingers crossed, seeing as I am going to school in Orlando next year, I am really hopping they have it again. Perhaps I can head down there for the weekend.
July 25+26th. The first announcement will be Tuesday but take a look at their myspace top friends if you want a pretty full list of who's playing
according to the above article, Pink Floyd will be at Coachella 2008.
Take it however you want it.

June 10: Sydney's Hoyts Entertainment Quarter - Sydney, Australia - Hancock Premiere
June 18: Leicester Square - London, UK - Hancock Premiere
June 27: Hyde Park - London, UK - Nelson Mandela's 90th Birthday Celebration
Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince are touring the world in June and July of 2008. Countries they may be visiting may include Australia, India, China, Canada & England.
Will said this at a recent press conference: "We're going to go out big in July," Smith, who gained fame as the "Fresh Prince" with Townes, told reporters in a news conference in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Nov. 30. "We are figuring out some places around the world to do some big shows. It's about to be that circle back to the golden age of hip-hop. There is starting to be a little resurgence, so yeah, we are planning some things. ... It will probably go out with Hancock and do performances with premieres around the world."
He said this in London: MTV News’ Rickie sat down for a chat with the big man before the London premiere of ‘I Am Legend’, he revealed that he hasn’t given up on music:
“I’ll probably just tour with the old material, but I’ll definitely have a concert here in June as that’s when my next film (Hancock) is coming out so I’ll connect the tour to the premieres”
and this: Smith confirmed: "I probably won't create any new music but I will be on tour with my old music, not my old music, sorry - my classic songs - later next year."
Come back here for all the concert details! Also check the forum for the latest.

I can't even believe you guys got my so excited to check out who's playing the D-bag fest.
You see what I did there? I changed it from Dfest, to D-bag fest! Hahaha, oh Captain, how do you get so witty?
So why don't you keep jerking off to the shitty emo bands playing Dfest and look at your keyboard when you type you fuckin slimy caotain. That way, when you try to counter-strike the Captain's comments, you won't look like such a flaming idiot.
LOOK AGAIN!!!

My bad if it was always there
Purple Door Music and Arts Festival
August 15th and 16th
Ski Roundtop, Lewisberry, PA
www.purpledoor.com
Truthfully, I'm not trying promote any festivals...shitty or not...I figured if this site was to be collection of summer festivals, I would provide any that were missing. Though I'm not personally a fan of the bands at Purple Door, never been to the festival, nor relate to the christian scene whatsoever, perhaps there are readers of this site that are...
...and last time I checked, this site wasn't called Captain Asshole's Festival Outlook, so chill out on your idiotic comments about every festival you don't have the privilege of attending...you clearly are just looking for attention, and this will be the only time i entertain your desperate need...by the way, have fun at your lame APW...I won't be seeing you at Lolla thankfully
As for looking for attention, well, you bet your shitty-festival-liking ass that I'm looking for attention! Why else would I be doing this? I'm entertaining myself, and hopefully, entertaining others. What would the Real World be without Puck?! Nothing, right? Completely lame and not entertaining. Well I'm the Puck of this Message Board, a'iight?
And you're correct, this site isn't called, Captain Asshole’s Festival Outlook. However, as I said before, I do marketing for an IT company and for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purposes this site probably should be called Captain Asshole’s Festival Outlook. It would garner much more attention when people search for "festival" in Google. If you had the option, what would you rather click on: "Festival Outlook" or "Captain Asshole’s Festival Outlook?" I'd say rhe latter.
By the way Terry, I will have fun at lame-ass APW. I'll be tripping my fuckin ass off listening to 2-nights of Radiohead. I cut out the fat my friend, I don't need to see a million other bands put on a 45 minute show that promotes their shitty new album. Nope, I see complete sets by outstanding bands like Kings of Leon, Go Team, Animal Collective and the aforementioned Radiohead...twiiiiiiice.
So yeah, I'm pretty amped that I don't have to see your sweaty ass at Lollapalooza either. I hope it rains in Chi-town that weekend. In the meantime, I'll be in NYC, throwing caution to the wind while hitting on some hotties from the city as I pound beer (the beer permits were approved), chow some boomers and drop ecstasy to the sweet sounds of Radiohead...2 Nights in a row.
Bottom line Terry, go fuck yourself.
Captain Gayhole....I seem to remember you cumming over Lollapalooza's lineup...
"Pretty fucking lame that Lollapalooza drops literally the greatest concert ever after I bought a ticket to APW" I believe was your statement and I remember feeling the slightest bit of pity for you.
But, anyways, have fun on your bad trip recalling how jealous you are that you're not me. Truthfully, I'm pretty disappointed that the worst you can come up with is to wish for rain while I'm at Lolla. I expected something much more vile and biting from you.
And while yes, we can agree those few bands you will see are pretty damn good, they are also practically the only four bands worth seeing...Two of which will be at Lolla. $65 per good band just doesn't add up when you can pay less than $10 per good band at Lolla. Suck on them apples. Though if you want to make APW more worth it, don't miss Girl Talk, whom, guess what, is also at Lolla. Man, I'm telling you, the Lolla line-up is pretty sweet.
As for Radiohead, with Lolla, I'll have seen them three times this summer, since you seem to want to make this about who is more hip or musically cultured. So I couldn't care less that you get to see them two nights in a row.
And ohh yes...all of your loyal fans commend you on making the internet a better place one flaming post at a time.
Although Lolla certainly does have a dick-meltingly amazing lineup, I'm content with APW. There are hotter chicks in NYC and better drugs. Hot Chicks + Drugs = Sexual Enlightenment. Also, the scenary and the view of NYC is well worth it. Are you saying you don't like the view of NYC? What are you a terrorist? Guys...Terry's a terrorist. (Sick band name by the way, I call it!) Also, way to quote me word-for-word Rain Man. And I saw Girl Talk before (totally 2006 by the way)...he was alright, nothing special...
I apologize that I didn't come back firing with anything harsher than I hope it rains at Lollapalooza. Sorry that I don't actually want you to die or anything. If you want, I can make fun of how shitty the name Terry is. Is that something that would pump your gnads?
But seriously, c'mon Ter, lighten up, this is all in good fun. Just a little jabbing at each other to get the blood flowing -- makes you feel aliiiiive, doesn't it? I'm glad you're spicing this board up a bit, it's always fun anonymously shitting on people.
Overall, I hope it really does rain at Lollapalooza -- I can't let my guard down. And you really need to stop making me click my mouse and freeze up my computer to see an awful festival that might actually get me excited.
HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND EVERYONE!
Ohh believe me, I've been having a blast today and I appreciate you making my friday fly by. I have no true hard feelings towards you besides my already substantial hatred for you.
I agree with you that your formula would be a pretty optimal experience regardless of the line-up or occasion, so there's certainly one thing you'll likely have on me. I'm sure we'll have nearly equal experiences at our respective festivals and afterwards we'll have to have a verbal duking it out about who's was best.
If you wish to use my name, I'm sure there's little you can say that I've not heard and I can't imagine it'd bother me much anyways. I pretty much hate my name. But if you think you can surprise me with something, it'll give you something to work on over the weekend/Monday. Though I pity any child who's parents named them Captain Asshole.
You have a good weekend, Cap'n
But before you rot in hell, you should Anonymously get a room for yourself and if you're of the male species, you should cut your balls of with a rusty spork. But if you're a female, maybe you should just take a dirty steak knife, and stick it blade up the vaginal cavity. That would be sick actually. Remember though, you want to remain Anonmymous when you're performing these actions.
Whatever option you choose, you won't be able to reproduce anymore Anonymous shitheads like yourself.
¡Buena respuesta Capitan Ano!

last year was top heavy for headliners but the rest of the bill was a bit scattered and spiritualized on the side stage was just wrong. paul weller was a poor choice for coheadlnier too, he is the mod godfather but is pretty much unknown over here. i would have rather seen moby play a proper set at that time rather than dj in a tent that no one could get into.
i hope they go for more mid sized acts this year as they did the previous years. i'd love to have the flaming lips come back to make up for the 06 issue with curfew and massive attack would have been fantastic on the island.
And yeah, Spiritualized on the side stage mid-afternoon while MGMT played the main was fucked up, Paul Weller was a terrible choice for sub (but gave me a chance to see the pigeon detectives), and Moby doing a DJ set in that tiny 19+ dance tent was yet another poor decision made by the orgainzers.
06 and 07 had incredible lineups, 08 was kind of shitty, more mid sized acts would be great. And if they need to save a bit on headliners and book KOL for one night to get those mid sized acts, I am perfectly okay with that.
Last year the initial line-up was promising, and then each addition was pretty terrible. I still can't believe that the promoters did nothing to make up for the '06 Flaming Lips fiasco.
Has anyone heard anything about a Broken Social Scene Olympic Island show or the Rogers Picnic yet?
And no, no word on BSS Olymic Island stuff or Rogers Picnic.
i'd love to see blur on vfest this year too, i wonder if they'll come over to north america with the reunion?
i missed both mgmt and spiritualized at last years vfest...i was stuck in line, thanks to my friends being late. it took forever to get into the dock area and the line snaked almost all the way to jarvis street.
Who would you pick as headliners Adam?
Bjork is first. Bjork is also first on my 07 shirt.
I could see the Besatie Boys playing, or possibly The Cure (weve shared headliners with Coachella before). I could also see Depeche Mode playing.
What about you? (other than KOL)
I was also thinking of The Beastie Boys and The Cure. Depeche Mode I doubt since they are in Toronto on 7/24. Other than those two and Blur, I was thinking of The Verve, Chemical Brothers, Franz Ferdinand and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but they would all be subs as well. I would love to see Portishead there.
Also, whats with everyone complaining about the lines for the ferries? I went in 07 and 08 all days and never waited more than 15 mins for a ferry (I usually arrived around 2:30).
I think Franz Ferdinand are pretty likely, and Thee Verve and YYY's are definately possibilities, but Portishead are too good for VFest Toronto, and they dont seem to book electronic acts that arent in that piece of shit dance tent, which is too small for the Chemical Brothers, so sadly, its prolly not going to happen.
i think we could see any of the following:
blur, yeah yeah yeahs, sonic youth, placebo, the cure, beasties, kings of leon, franz ferdinand, dinosaur jr., peaches, morrissey (even though he hates candada)...
i am not sure about other canadian acts though....maybe the arcade fire?
don't quote me on it, and don't bash me if it ain't true but he's usually right on the money. no word of the line up yet, but that the announcement was coming.
they have to realize that the parks are public areas and are used by the city.
also, it's no different than living downtown. we get noise from all the parades and events all year. jeez, the st. paddy's day drunks are loud enough at 2am....but that's city life. the island is part of the city and not some wilderness adventure.
i am impatient!
i too wouldn't be suprised if they skipped this year or really scaled back.
they scrapped vancouver last year but calgary had a great trun out apparently.
just please, for the love of god....no tragically hip!
just the have the cure and my bloddy valentine on the same bill is pure bliss.
too bad the chemical brothers are only doing a dj set though.
http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/uu91/dsagfbn...
goldenvoice...are you listening???
I hope the lineup is out next monday. If its not, I would bet that VFest has been canclled.
I wish they would say something, even just update the website with "2009 info coming soon"...even though it only appears to be 3-4 of us that are anxiously awaiting info.
Osheaga was a blast last year, with Chromeo's homecoming definitely the highlight. With their new four-day format they could end up siphoning much of VFest's thunder; festival referendum?

over the three years, vfest toronto did very well and continued to grow.
the australian versions were held the past weekend and they got record turnout and had the killer/elbow/snow patrol/duffy/human league.
i can't see them wanting to give up on it just yet.
sad thing, all these festivals bring money to the city and the island and is great for tourism.
i wonder if the toronto vfest show will be the same weekend and share a bill? it would be much easier logistically.

festival@virginmobile.ca
Will the Virgin Mobile Festival return this year?
It's a good question. And as of right now, I don't know the answer.
In fact, the future of Pimlico and the Preakness is up in the air.
Yesterday, I e-mailed Virgin Mobile Festival publicist Audrey Fix Schaefer, who said there is "no news to report."
That doesn't bode well for the festival ...
By now, pretty much all of the other major summer music festivals have announced their lineups. Even the roster for the V Festival in England has gone public, and tickets are on sale.
But Virgin Mobile Festival promoter Seth Hurwitz has kept mum about the future of the annual Baltimore event. And I can't say I blame him. Who books a festival at a venue that could be torn down in six months?
If it were to happen, this would be the Virgin Mobile Festival's fourth year at Pimlico. And though attendance has slumped the past couple of years, Hurwitz has been happy with the festival.
Still, the longer we wait for an announcement, the less likely the festival will come back to Baltimore.
i'm sure there are many others in the same boat as well who would like to plan ahead, especially since the dates and line ups have already been announced for the majority of the major festivals.
