Jeff - AIC opened for Velvet Revolver a couple years ago so I went early to give them a chance. Overall, I was impressed. No, it wasn't the same, but the new guy fit very well with the band in his own strange way as layne did. I like that, the "mike love rule." I had always considered it the John Fogerty rule, but works just the same. But there are a lot of bands in that same situation: Sabbath, Maiden, Anthrax, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Marillion, Grateful Dead (Pigpen was the original front man before Jerry). Deep Purple and Priest ended up back with their originals though. And there are a few out there like Molly Hatchet that do not even have one original member. So basically they are worth checking out if you are going to be there.

Yeah! Wasn't able to go last year, and would have been my 4th in a row. This line-up is Fantastic!! Can't wait to see Jeff Beck!! In Memphis. A stones throw away from the Gibson guitar factory - His hero, the late, great Les Paul's epicenter. And if Rhonda Smith or Tal Wilkenfeld are playing bass - Watch out!! Can't wait to make the pilgrimage down south!!

Thank you MIM - It has been a long cold winter up here (and Everywhere for that matter) and can't wait for my Dyer's fried bologna sandwich and a walk down to the riverfront for the sweet sounds!!

Someone tell me something that should get me excited about the new Alice in Chains. Because I'm not a fan of bands continuing to tour under a name after they have replaced the face of their band. I call it the "Mike Love Rule."

There are only so many AC/DC's out there. Is AIC continuing a legacy or tarnishing one?

Ramone - Faith No More would totally be a shocker. I still have faith also. where are you coming from? and who are the only two you are interested in at this point? For me its AIC, Jeff Beck and Blues Traveler (have seen "the killer" too many times now, but he is a must for anyone who hasnt seen him, like him or not.

I really hope they have some good surprises on Thursday. My flight is booked already and there are only 2 acts so far that I would think about driving across town to see. But I have faith in the fest. Speaking of faith how about announcing Faith No More!!!

Just pure speculation but for the past 2 years MIM has gotten the "It" girl of the moment to play (Fergie in '08, Katy Perry in '09) so I'm wondering if they're going to nab Ke$ha? Especially since she's from Tennessee... Anyone heard anything?

Prepare to lose your shit, because the Flaming Lips are confirmed, according to my source.

I know Five Finger Death Punch and Chevelle are confirmed on Sunday. Edgefest in Little Rock just announced their lineup, and Five Finger is on it. Wouldn't be surprised to see somebody like Papa Roach or Godsmack back at Music Fest.

yeah the dead weather are playing Minglewood Hall. the place is fantastic, sounds great. opened in march of this year. have seen several bands there already and have tix for a few more. you should definitely check this place out if you get the chance.

been watching minglewood and the new daisy sites for aftershow shows. dark star orchestra has played quite a few times at the daisy. neither venue has anything scheduled as of yet for the weekend.

Scratch the Dead Weather as a possibility. They're playing Jazz Fest in NO, but their Memphis gig is scheduled for April 28th.

there are still around/at least another 40 bands to be named at this point. i would say on average there are around 60 bands each year +/- 5 bands. we just have to wait until next thursday to find out the rest. and MIM is pretty good about keeping a few secrets until the lineup announcement.

I would agree with you thus far Carligula. It seems like in past years, way more of the lineup had been leaked by this point. So my hope here is there are some bigger names (even by MIM standards) and the lid is being kept a bit tighter than usual.

That's my hope anyway.

Pearl Jam is playing a lot of festivals this year. It's not totally unreasonable to think he might come.

I really want Levon Helm to be added to the bill.
